Ynys Mon IT provide consulting services including, project management, infrastructure deployment, cyber security training and advice to a range of organisations.

The principle consultant is Neil Summers who has had 15 years IT project management experience in both the private and public sector organisations. He is a technical specialist who focuses on integrating information technology into businesses and showing clients how to use IT more efficiently to help reach objectives and targets. This is done by introducing new technical solutions and software or hardware platforms to existing IT infrastructures with the purpose of improving processes and profitability.

Ynys Mon IT typically work as the bridge between the technical team and other staff to get a clear understanding of the client requirements and how to translate them into a technically feasible project. The project is then managed for the client in the most efficient way possible. This may be either via a short term or longer term engagement.

Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus are two UK government sponsored cyber security standards for business of all sizes. We have experience of assisting organisations to achieve the requirements..

About Us

Neil Summers is the principle consultant and owner of Ynys Môn IT .

He has 30 years’ experience in management, working in both the public and private sector. Roles have ranged from leading small teams in a research environment to project management of multimillion pound private sector projects.

Initial degree in Chemistry was followed by 25 years in the private sector where he was responsible for leading and developing processes and teams in hazardous environments providing internal consultancy and project management services and a full range of general management responsibilities for a team of up to 100 staff.

A Chartered Chemist and formal certifications in both Supervisory and Safety Management.

For the last 15 years he has worked in ICT public sector at both the technical and Head of IT level. Professional technical qualifications from Microsoft and Cisco and PRINCE2 and was a Member of the Chartered Institute for IT.

Masters Degree for research into the barriers to digital inclusion and the adoption of digital services.

On a regional level, roles include the development of broadband infrastructure in the local community as part of the work of the North Wales Economic Ambition Board (NWEAB)

Contributed to the NWEAB application to the UK Department for Culture Media and Sports (DCMS) for the development of Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) providing gigabit network capabilities to local business and properties.

Former Member of the Society of Information Technology Management (SOCITM) a professional network for digital leaders in the transformation of local, regional and national public services.

Recently been involved with providing advice on Cybersecurity as part of a project for a local organisation to obtain the Cyber Essentials certification. Member of the North Wales Cyber Security Cluster and has advised organisations on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Neil has also been a representative on the Welsh Government’s HWB project Technical Group .

Recent projects.

As part of the Welsh Government’s Hwb project for schools I carried out a network infrastructure survey of all schools in Denbighshire. Based on this work I presented a report and infrastructure development plan to Denbighshire County Council which was then used as a basis to draw down national funding to improve ICT infrastructure in schools across the County.

Y 15 blynedd diwethaf mae hi wedi gweithio ym maes TGCh yn y sector cyhoeddus ar lefel dechnegol a Phennaeth TG. Cymwysterau technegol proffesiynol gan Microsoft a Cisco a PRINCE2 ac roedd yn aelod o Sefydliad Siartredig TG.

Ar lefel ranbarthol, mae rolau yn cynnwys datblygu seilwaith band eang yn y gymuned leol fel rhan o waith bwrdd uchelgais economaidd Gogledd Cymru (NWAU).

Yn ddiweddar, bu’n ymwneud â darparu cyngor ar seiberddiogelwch fel rhan o brosiect i sefydliad lleol gael ardystiad seiber-hanfodion. Aelod o glwstwr diogelwch seiber Gogledd Cymru ac mae wedi cynghori sefydliadau ar y Rheoliadau Diogelu data cyffredinol (GDPR).
